Once again on our last visit to Houston, we stayed at the boys’ favorite hotel there, the Omni Westside, as they get so much pleasure from feeding the goldfish in the large pools of the atrium lobby.

The rooms are a little small and the bathrooms are looking somewhat dated, but…//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js
we give the hotel an idea of when we will be arriving, and they have milk and cookies set out in the room for the boys//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js
and we’re given complimentary drinks in the morning as well. Really, we like to spend time downstairs as the lobby is filled with large areas of water//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

One of the best parts of visiting Houston this time: going back to the Menil (they allow photography in the building now, but only in the main hallway)//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

and most especially the Francis Alys: The Fabiola Project at the Byzantine Fresco Chapel, with 450+ objects (mostly oils, I think) depicting the 4th C. Saint Fabiola by John-Jacques Henner. Francis Alys’ original idea was to visit flea markets to buy low-cost copies of masterpieces so as to have a wall at home full of, say, Last Supper or Mona Lisa.
The exhibit will be up until May 2018.//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js
