For many cities, there’s at least one landmark structure. In Meridian, Mississippi, it’s the Threefoot Building, built in the late 1920s by the Threefoot brothers (‘Threefoot’ Americanized by the German ‘Dreyfus’ as Drey/Drei = three, fus = foot), who had a wholesale grocery business. The building was completed in 1928 and then…well, then the depression hit.
It’s been mostly uninhabited for years and years. Av especially has been following what’s going on with the building, and met some people there a couple of months ago — they’re doing some restoration work — and took these pic (some from earlier visits):
