Av treated me to Restaurant August, another of John Besh’s establishments — this one on Tchoupitoulas. It’s now one of my favorite places in the city:

Rather than an entree, I chose two appetizers — this one, the foie:
And the gnocchi, which are notoriously hard to perfect, but these were just that — perfect. Perfectly pillowy and rich yet light and just delectable. They were served with blue crab and black truffle. One of the best things I have eaten all year:
Av had this fish, which was even better than it looked, if that’s even possible:
