Restaurant August

Av treated me to Restaurant August, another of John Besh’s establishments — this one on Tchoupitoulas.  It’s now one of my favorite places in the city:

Rather than an entree, I chose two appetizers — this one, the foie:

And the gnocchi, which are notoriously hard to perfect, but these were just that — perfect. Perfectly pillowy and rich yet light and just delectable. They were served with blue crab and black truffle. One of the best things I have eaten all year:

…and we were going to leave without dessert, but they insisted and brought out these little bites complimentary, which were…you can guess…also terrific:
