Margaret’s Grocery, Lately

This summer, we visited Margaret’s Grocery again, on a trip to Vicksburg.  Of course, sweet Margaret is gone, and Preacher, Rev. Dennis, is in a nursing home.  Their church is supposed to be keeping the place up, but it’s looking terribly faded.

If you’re ‘new’ to Margaret’s Grocery, it was a store that Margaret had, and when she married Rev. Dennis, he told her that he would build her a castle.  And he did.

It’s easy to see how faded the signs are especially when you see these pics from some of our earlier visits:

Back in March, Gov. Barbour declared one week the “Reverend Herman D. Dennis and Margaret’s Grocery Awareness and Preservation Week”.
