Wiregrass, and Dothan: Large And Small And Peanutty

Going to college at Troy, going to town (other than downtown Troy) meant either Montgomery or Dothan.  Dothan’s a nice place.  It’s home to the National Peanut Festival so it only makes sense that their civic art project was the peanut, thus in front of the Pig, the Piggly Wiggly peanut:

…in the same parking lot as a giant cow:

The world’s smallest city block (seriously, it even has its own marker) is there:

…and Dothan’s also home to a giant scrap-metal hog:

…which was created by the Godwin brothers who have ArtWurks — this is the rooster created from chrome bumpers right outside their shop around Brundidge:

Home of the South’s best hotdogs at the Dixie Curb Market in Dothan:

When we go on trips, we always like to find places that the boys can run around and have fun outside — here in Dothan is Landmark Park which is *gorgeous*.  We explored some of the old buildings like this old church:

On the grounds is a “1890’s living history farm, complete with an old farmhouse, smokehouse, cane mill, syrup shed…a one-room schoolhouse, a drugstore and soda fountain, a country store or a turn-of-the-century church.”

So pretty:

There’s a really excellent playground there too.  Loved it.

Such pretty buildings we saw on our way home, in Ozark AL:
