I Dream Of Weenie & Pied Piper Creamery

…have *got* to show these two places we found in Nashville:

I Dream of Weenie hotdogs!:

…it’s a mobile hot dog cart that’s also part VW bus that’s not mobile.  But you know what I mean.  How cute is that!?

They’ve gotten *all* kinds of best-of awards, too.  For one thing, they really grill their hotdogs and use local, artisan bread as the bun.  I wish I could tell you more from personal experience, but they were closed.  There are two on the menu that sound great: the “Rebel Yelp” which is Tennessee chow-chow, mustard, onions, and jalapenos – and the “Pimento Cheese Weenie”.  Yum.

One place that we *did* get into, good especially since it was so warm outside, was Pied Piper Creamery in an older house in the same neighborhood:

Smart, smart, smart: there was a play room just inside the door for children, and once the boys were done exploring, we sat out on the front porch.  They shared a small vanilla milkshake – and…well, you know how 95% of the time vanilla is just vanilla?  This milkshake was crazy-good vanilla.  Av got their bestseller, the Trailer Trash (a bunch of different candy bars crushed up into vanilla) and I got the Robert Brulee (creme brulee-tasting ice cream with almonds).

Oh, I have to tell you some of the other flavors, too:
C is for Cookie
Oatmeal Raisin in the Sun
Banana-Fana-Fo-Fudding
Strawberry Fields Forever
I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butterfinger
Orange Blossom Special
Handlebar Pistachio

…and…oh, gracious…
