Folk Fest 2008

Folk Fest 2008

This upcoming weekend is the Slotin Folk Fest at the North Atlanta Trade Center at I-85 & Indian Trail Road, Exit 101. It’s from August 15-17, and the Friday night opening (from 5-10pm) is $15 which includes a meet-the-artist party, a 15th anniversary t-shirt, and readmission for the rest of the weekend. Saturday’s show is from 10am-7pm and is $7, and Sunday is from 10am-5pm, also $7.

This is the show – not the auction that’s put on a couple of times a year. I got all excited earlier this month when I realized that I hadn’t gotten the auction catalog in the mail – so I emailed Amy there and she very kindly reminded me that this was the exhibitor show…I need to read my postcards from them better…

About 10,000-12,000 are expected to attend, and 100 exhibitors will be showing “Self-taught Art, Outsider Art, Southern Folk Pottery, and Folk Art”, one of which is Anton Haardt who has galleries in Montgomery and New Orleans. She will also be featuring her book Mose T From A to Z: The Folk Art of Mose Tolliver, winner of the Nautilus Silver Award and New York Book Festival Art/Photography Award. I haven’t seen it yet but can’t wait! Hope we can go!
