After going to her pinning ceremony that evening, we started to leave for home but then decided to try somewhere new for supper…so we drove out to a place called Nick’s in the Sticks (4018 Culver Rd, 205/758.9316).
How can you not love a place called “Nick’s In the Sticks” – right?
It’s really not too far out in the sticks, but it’s also not the easiest place to find, partly because there is no sign at all out front (the waiter said he thought it got blown away during Hurricane Ivan). It doesn’t look like too much from the outside:
I guess it’s been almost a year now that Kenny Stabler opened his steakhouse in Tuscaloosa (right on University Blvd where they were going to open a Doe’s), called “Twelve“. We haven’t been there yet but from what I’ve heard, people are more surprised by how much it costs than how great the steaks are. Of course, if you’re in Tuscaloosa, you really should be eating at Dreamland or Archibald’s, anyway!
